beneath the tree, Santa left me a black 30gb Zune (I believe the Elves had an overstock of 1st gen models).

firstly impressions: seems a oodles more durable the the 5th gen iPod (now known as the iPod classic) that it replaces. The emerge is a matte felonious, and the room divider appears very scratch resistant; the iPod had multiple hairline scratches on the screen within hours of leaving it's box. It is chunkier than the iPod, but I only use dig in the automobile and at my desk...no no issues there. If you map on jogging with the 30gb Zune, it may benefit you to reconsider. I kind of like the size, and it is a beat fit in my calligraphy control while driving.

secure importance: noticeably happier than the iPod. Seems like there are a few more watts behind the audio signal resulting in a richer sound via headphones or my transport stereo.

Software: I in no way thought I would on any occasion leave out iTunes, but this clobber that the Zune ships with makes me yearn proper for it. While aesthetically pleasing (and skinnable), it falls flat when compared to iTunes when it comes to music management, synching, and getting quick visual info about your library. For instance, there is no easy way to leak, at a coup d'oeil what potion of your library is synced to your iPod.

Firmware: Microsoft gave 1st gen adopters a bit of a backsheesh, by making the 2nd gen firmware close by as a unfastened download. Different from the iPod, but it works probably. The fundamental thing iPod users will-power need to comprehend used to is the Back and flatter/hesitate buttons, which are separate from the largest rule jotter. So your thumb discretion do a piece more traveling while sifting utterly you omnium gatherum. These two buttons are utterly flush with the rest of the entity and are occasionally tough to find in the dark.

Wireless: A cool high point, but I haven't yet found another alcohol with which to barter music. It's hermit-like being a Zune owner. The wireless sync works well; if you plug the Zune into an AC charger away from the PC, it order go into to sync immediately, pulling updated podcasts and other files that you have marked as a remedy for syncing. If Microsoft releases an update with a trap-browser (which it unbelievably much needs to, age that Apple has a browser in the iPod Touch), I make up it on go a extended way in cementing the Zune's hamlet alongside the iPod as a legitimate personal media device.

Verdict: A solid, if voluminous, trouper with some issues to undertaking entirely, but a passable introductory labour from Microsoft. Unbeatable gb/price ratio, and you can feel like an iconoclast in a Nautical blue water of Apple fanboys. unequalled? Maybe not, but it assuredly has a position.

Imagine… what if you could watch 70 hours of iPod video on a unwed debit. (OK, wait, that actually, might be a bad paraphernalia).as opposed to, imagine something more useful, like getting 22+ hours of MacBook use. Or 2500 hours of iPhone standby time. Such is the engage of Stanford University researchers who assert to have found a way to speak silicon nanowires to improve the retreat lithium-ion batteries store energy, delivering a reported 10x boost in character.
aloft: Silicon nano fibers (A) can up to 4 times their area when they absorb lithium (B), allowing them to hold more charge. (We think). Creating a nano-powered iPod nano

As everyone knows, nano technology will in the course of time drug every disease and solve every problem known to man, and then create a race of super robots that pleasure indenture us all. But before it does, it looks like we’ll be masterly to benefit from extended periods of all sorts of mobile gadget use.

According to lead Stanford researcher Yi Cui, this increased storage capacity could also make Li-ion batteries an attractive option to electric car manufacturers and solar power aficionados. “It’s not a small upgrading, it’s a revolutionary development.”

You bet it is. conceptualize, we may finally be able to listen to all 40,000 songs Apple says the iPod can hold on a distinguish permeate! Not to mention the 100 hours+ battery life we’ll get from Apple’s super-secret, not-nonetheless-announced, ultra-small, ultra-hyphenated, flash-based MacBook!

From ScienceDaily.

iTunes is forth to start carrying Fox content, unsurpassed to speculation that video stores whim be be subjected to dmod of town like fortress Records.   The brick and mortar collect in search the mark-down of media serenity is stylish a item of the past.  Even a store like Barnes and Noble makes more profit on coffee than books, and the books essentially exist only for ambience before they are shipped back to the publisher to be pulped.   Bookstore-as-dissertation-park.   It's hard to suppose the video store similarly reinventing itself, since videos induce none of the nostalgia of books.   facetious that in I Am Legend,  pass on Smith's matrix Man character, Robert Neville,  arranges mannequins in a video store and then holds conversations with them to preserve his history and people.  as the case may be that display is prescient.  Or a comment on a fading media technology and a fading media whereabouts soon to be replaced by streaming CGI monsters.

Apple’s new Newton?

A new Apple "Newton 2" rumor has popped up, this spell with "indication" from a SeekingAlpha.com framer, David Sieger.

Says Sieger:

This fresh Apple crest, which could be an Ultra ambulant Computer, has not been sighted free and about the Apple campus or even in the area normally designated for testing rejuvenated Apple products, suggesting that it’s still in the software and hardware design patch. Once it’s physically spotted outside Apple’s sub rosa labs, we may persist an true product release of 6-8 months, closely following other new Apple product introductions.

Sieger's evidence is based on Apple buying up 5.2" touchscreens, tons of flash memory, and lack of QWERTY keyboard.

Sieger, however, leaves into public notice compartment for chance, or Apple's ability to eye-opener people with something consummately inexperienced and unexpected.

He says it can't be a new Newton, because of the be of PDA required from the American public, "although a number of PDA functionalities may in episode be included in the final construct of the device."

It's all rifleman-in-the-dark obstruct, and the evidence he sites is flimsy at pre-eminent. This could all be affiliated to that nebulous cloud of Applet tablet rumors we've heard so much about.

Imagine this, your a YouTube junkie, you affaire de coeur putting vids together and sharing them with your friends, only to get a call from Apple nearly your latest masterpiece ! They out to your LA to make your piece into a valid commercial. That's exactly what happened to 18-year-old English student Nick Haley when he created this video. Oh the benefits of YouTube, hope he gets paid well !/P

According to the Hollywood journal Variety, Apple plans to introduce movie rentals as bluff as 24 hours that transform into "unplayable" afterwards using a flexible pricing system that inclination cost $5 each to go to new releases and $2 each because older titles.

Variety also reports that FOX and Disney are already supporting this plan while Lionsgate, MGM, and predominant could also join iTunes soon. The tenable lover notwithstanding the introduction of this inexperienced usage is cited as next month at Macworld 2008 in San Francisco.

If dutiful, the catalog of titles that those 5 serious flicks studios bring to the prcis iTunes software's mollify and integrated downloading experience could presage chief trouble for the likes of Blockbuster and Netflix.

Yup. The ever-increasingly-risible organism that is the RIAA (Recording Industry linkage of America) beget begun to prosecute people who have ripped their legally purchased music CDs onto their computers. I came across this Washington mail article via Graham Lenihan's blog. Technically it makes everybody who owns an mp3 player a disgraceful.

If only they'd cause anybody who buys a James Blunt album a criminal, engrossed hinder, the world would be a better put one's finger on.

L'interfaccia è molto curata, è disponibile in diverse versioni (semplificata, normale, avanzata) e il software è disponibile in lingua italiana.
