@MCallan, @Inercio, @Aurimoy, @Aishagala, @Fabosx, @Shinfu, @Csogorb, @Zigaurre, @Marc_intosh, @Arrozconnori, @Juantxu3, @Biphody

Gracias Twitter@s!!!

When there had been rumors of Chinese handwriting recognition for the glass trackpad posted on MacRumors, it seemed hard to believe. There are over 47,000 characters in the Chinese language, how is it that Apple would have enough time to add handwriting recognition for them? First, the average Chinese person knows around 25,000 of these characters, so that cuts 20,000 extra characters off the chart for Apple. So to answer the question, I honestly don’t know how Apple had the time to do this, all I know is they are Apple, and they work their butts off. Regardless if Steve Jobs is behind them with a whip.

Anyways, the rumor that Chinese handwriting is coming to Mac OS X Snow Leopard via the multi touch trackpad and to the iPhone has been proved! How? Video people, video.

Comments on the video include “我爱的” followed by “Mac OS X”, translated to “I love Mac OS X”. One comment read “哈,我還記得數年前Windows ME的手寫輸入,現在終於在Mac OS X上出現” which translates to “Ha, I remember a few years ago, the handwriting input Windows ME, and now finally appear on Mac OS X”.

Since handwriting recognition videos have been leaked out, you’d think that just still frames of the many new features in Mac OS X Snow Leopard would have been leaked too, right?

Right! In fact, there is a 44 photo gallery on Flickr that showcases them, you can find that gallery here: here. Many of the photos are extremely relevant. One showing the Screen Recording feature built right into Quicktime X. 3573127987_7551ef3e46_oIt also shows that Quicktime X has a new glossy black skin to it, which is rumored to be a mockup of the new “Marble” UI. The author of the Flickr screenshot gallery says that Snow Leopard will be released in October and is to have the same theme as Quicktime X “Lots of glossy blacks and transparency.” 3573934428_7c93de97b8_oAnother photo shows more advanced features for importing movies from Quicktime, you can select 3 different formats, iPod, Apple TV, and Mac (Computer), so say bye bye to Handbrake! The author of the gallery also goes on to say in the gallery description that “Anything I didn’t snap a shot of was because it didn’t seem like anything had changed.”

So! Great news for us rumor hungry Mac users!

In the latest release of iTunes, there was one major change to the interface, and that was that Party Shuffle had been replaced with iTunes DJ. The concept of the tool is still the same; iTunes makes a random list of songs that you can view, edit, and just let play, which was perfect when hosting a party with music. The difference between the two functions is that iTunes DJ has created an innovative way to run the party’s music — At the request of the guests.

Using an iPhone or an iPod Touch, a guest may log on to the home network and view the current playlist of the host computer displayed on their screen. They can also scroll through the entire host’s library, and click on a song to request it. After they’ve done this, the song will be the next song to play, unless there is another song that has been requested with more votes.

The only issue with this idea, is that, like with many other technologies, its success is based almost entirely on the number of people who use it. If a huge party is thrown and only two or three people have iPhones or iPod Touches, then they will be the ones running the entire party’s playlist. However, if more than 70% of a party has the devices, then it will truly become a playlist for the people, and most certainly take the weight off of the host’s shoulders for providing the perfect soundtrack to the night.

Even though this new technology has created a great original idea, as a tech enthusiast is has given me several more ideas for party music in the future. For instance, what if guests were able to request songs to be played on the host’s computer, but that were located on their own iPod? Theoretically this would not be impossible, as it would only require a streaming connection between both devices. As technology moves ever forward, these are the kind of things we can anticipate with bated breath — Only now, thanks to iTunes DJ, we can request a song while we wait.
