Hello, Rick here again. Linda gets back later today and she can write about something other than Hockey. But I thought I would share a couple of thoughts about what I think is important on being a Dad. I just finished an email to the parents on Austin’s hockey team. I wanted to make them aware of what is really important this coming Hockey season. The following is the body of what I wrote but it doesn’t just apply to Hockey moms and dads…it applies to all parents, grandparents as well as anyone who wants to make or keep friends. The art of conversation seems to be taking a back seat in our culture and it is because we are letting it! “Travel Hockey is a long season but the reward will happen along the way as well as at the end of the year. The progression of our hockey players will definately be noticed come March but the reward along the way will be in the form of a closer relationship with your girl or boy. The travel time to the rink is such an important time and I feel it should be used for our benefit as parents and the benefit of our kids. What I have tried to do especially last year was to turn off the radio and not allow Austin to play his iPod while we travelled. This in turn, forced both of us to have to dialogue with each other. At first there was a lot of dead air but as the year progressed we talked in depth and I learned more and more about my son. Don’t get me wrong, there were times when all I wanted to do was to go to my “empty box” (as my wife, Linda calls it) and veg! I began to realize that he had goals and dreams that I had no clue about. It was fun to get closer to Austin on a level different than that of hockey. When we as parents take the lead and put our focused time and effort into our most prized possessions, the year won’t feel so long and we will have fun a long the way!” So hang up the cell phone, put away the iPod, read that book when they are in bed, get off the computer, exercise before they get up, take them with you when you go places, have them cook/bake with you, have them fix the car with you, take them out for some one-on-one time, take them to church, schedule time at the end of the day to tuck them into bed and talk to them, read the Bible to them, if you are doing something and they ask a question stop what you are doing and look at them in the eyes and listen, don’t let your mind wander when talking with them, don’t be impatient, answer softly, pray with them, hug them daily, kiss them daily and tell them you love them constantly!!!

同サイトでたびたびケースのリーク情報が掲載されていた際にも、カメラ穴の横のスリットについてはコメント欄で話に上っていました。フラッシュが搭載されるのか、アンテナかセンサーが搭載されるのか…と私も色々想像を巡らせていましたがその答えはどうも単純なものだったようです。（まだ存在自体決まったわけではありませんが^^;）
Cult of Macの入手した、中国のケースメーカーからリークしたクレイモデルの写真より、nanoの背面カメラの横にあるのはマイクロフォンであるとの事です。また、iPod touchの前面カメラの横にある小さな穴も、形や場所からマイクロフォンである可能性が高いようです。（iSightカメラの様にアクティブや録画を表すステータスランプである可能性も示唆しています。）
また、数々のケースメーカーから得られたケースデザインにも同じ様にカメラ横のスリットがあり、これらがどのメーカーも同じスペック情報に基づいてカメラやマイクロフォンに適応させていることを示していると伝えています。
Cult of Macはこれらをふまえて、次期iPodにはビデオ機能が搭載されるのではと予測しています。また、あるケースメーカーがメールで伝えてきた話によると、ハードウェアの詳細については分からないが、入手した実機より第三世代touchと第五世代nanoには確かにカメラが搭載されているという事です。

うーん、スペック的にビデオ機能が搭載されるというのは微妙な気がしますが…touchなら十分あり得るとしても、nanoはどうでしょうか。（いつもnano+カメラには否定的な私ですが^^;）そこの壁を乗り越えて、革新的な新iPodが今秋にリリースされる事も期待していますけどね。
iPodにカメラを搭載する狙いとはそもそも何なのでしょうね。
Today I received the brand-spankin’ new T-Mobile MyTouch 3G with Google by HTC, powered by Android (heck of a name), and I quickly opened it. I took some photos and decided to put them up for everyone to enjoy. My usual digital camera has run out of battery juice, so I had to use the next best camera I had on hand: my Nintendo DSi. So, in advance, I apologize for the quality of the photos (but I don’t think they’re that bad).
Since it was warm out, decided to take a stroll up to the neighbourhood for some ice cream. Had something called Nutcracker Sweet–”Nut ice cream swirled with a sweet caramel ribbon and packed with macadamias, pistachios, cashews, hazelnuts, pecans, walnuts and almonds.” Suffice it to say, it was goooooooood. And of course, what’s a pleasant evening stroll without tunes? I couldn’t leave home without it. (Editors note: since the entire walk there and back only lasted the length of nine tunes, that’s all you get tonight, folks. Imorgon lanseras iPhone 3GS. Jag har bestämt att jag ska ha mig en. Har gått o väntat på denna ända sedan min Ipod touch försvann spårlöst. Det var tveklöst den bästa pryl jag haft i ägo och naturligtvis är det självklart att ersätta den med en iPhone eftersom min nuvarande telefon suger gammal disktrasa. Of all the categories of people you would think would be easy to find online wouldn’t you think it would be graphic novel writers? I mean come on, people! Maybe I should explain. I am a member of a website called Zhura.com (I wrote about them if you want an overview) and this website is where I do the majority of my writing because I have been writing a graphic novel series and they have a comic book template that does super easy formatting and you can save it to your drive later etc. So this website also has a community of fellow writers. My question to them is why are there no other graphic novel/comic book writers on there? In fact when I Google graphic novel writers I can’t find a single website for them either. Where are they? ::crickets:: I know I’m the only one that cares about this but still, where?! I did find a lovely site today that I’m quite in love with that I will review either here or on Associated Content (maybe both like I did for Zhura) called funny name good…sandwiches (does anyone remember that commercial besides me?). Full of free audio books you can download for your iPod, iTunes, mp3 player etc. Very into that idea right now. So I am working on the third installment of my graphic novel trilogy which I will start illustrating next year (actually the process will start long before that) and plan to publish myself (gasp!). Which I am quite excited about actually as I have more experience with the internet in general and a little more realistic view of things as they stand. (I feel like I’m writing a whole other blog post in parentheses.) The series as a whole as it stands now is going to be three graphic novels and one traditional novel. So there’s lots of potential I think for editions and special features and trailers and all that good stuff. The fact is that I’ve written three novels and I was thinking the other day how there is really no reason to doubt that this series should become successful because I’ve never gotten a chance to go as far with anything as I’m going with this publicity or production-wise. I’ll spare you further details right now but I’m pretty excited about it because I finished ten pages two days in a row in under five hours both days. I think it has something to do with tying up the series.
